Teaching
Drew has been teaching professionally for 20 years.  He enjoys teaching students of all ages, and believes that inspiring a love for music should be the teachers first goal.

Drew students have gone on to study guitar performance at the University of Toronto, have won Provincial OMFA Competitions, and have have been awarded the "silver medal" (highest mark in the Province) for RCM exams. In 2015, Drew's students won both the grade 8 and 9 OMFA provincial competitions.

Drew is available for lessons privately in Markham, or via Skype

Testimonials

Drew is a great teacher and has taken my playing abiliies to the next level. What makes Drew exceptional as a teacher is his commitment to improving his student's technique and mindset when playing. How ever much dedication you put into playing and learning, Drew will match that or surpass it. This is a rare trait among teachers. Only after 2-3 years of playing classical guitar (one of those years with Drew) I was able to play grade 8 RCM pieces with relative ease"

"Drew is one of the country's finest players...it's an honour to learn from him. Often enough a great player doesn't always translate to a great teacher. Luckily this is not the case with Drew"

I strongly recommend him -"

"Working with Drew has enabled me to grow not just as a classical guitarist but musically overall. His grasp and focus on dynamics, phrasing and tone makes him not only one of the best classical guitarists alive but a great teacher. "

Starting to play classical guitar in my 60's has been challenging to say the least. I had three classical guitar teachers before I met Drew. His approach was very different then that of my previous teachers. Yes, of course we concentrate on technique, etc., but his teachings encompassed as well a fuller understanding and appreciation of the piece of music. He is very engaging as a teacher and my passion for music and playing grew as a result. Drew is a great musician and a wonderful teacher. "

"We are very fortunate to have found Drew who has been teaching our daughter guitar for over 2 years. She looks forward to her lesson and always comes out of it inspired. Drew has an incredible way with kids! They relate to him because he's young and current but he also has no trouble getting their attention and respect. Through his patience and creativity he finds a way to keep it fun while also furthering her talent."
